I’ll take you behind the scenes into the the fitting room of #TheCarrieDiaries for this exclusive Carrie Costumes Confidential video series. XOXOE
Carrie has a lot of changes in each episode—averaging about 10! I usually break down the script and categorize by type of change, e.g., “Journaling look,” “Interview Office look,” or “School look.” Each is very different and has different needs.
While the world was busy falling in love with Carrie Bradshaw on ‘Sex and the City’ and the ladies of Constance Billard School for Girls on ‘Gossip Girl,’ we were falling hard for the shows’ fashions, too, with every billowing bohemian scarf and pair of pastel-shaded tights. We were lucky enough to snag a few minutes with the genius behind those costumes, Eric Daman, who just so happens to be reinventing Carrie’s style for ‘The Carrie Diaries’… (+more)”

WHEN MY CARRIE DIARIES FASHION RADAR WENT BEZERK!
Eric Daman, the Gossip Girl style maestro, in the throes of shooting the new season of The Carrie Diaries, who also assisted costume designer Patricia Field on Sex and the City, told @Cosmopolitan’s Michelle Ruiz how he’s sexing up Carrie Bradshaw’s style in season two, and why he’s scouring the Fashion Week runways online— just like the rest of us!
MR: How is Carrie’s style going to evolve in season two?
ED: Well, Carrie spent the summer in NYC. With any 18-year-old girl, it’s going to have an effect on her fashion. It’s a big part of a girl’s identity. Having met Samantha, we’re going to see Carrie exploring a little more body con, be a bit sexier, less ‘Connecticut’ when she’s in school. (+more)
MR: Do you use NYFW to shop for Carrie?
ED: We’re filming episodes now and it’s fun, but the days are long and high stress. I know I can peruse NYFW online, but this season I was a guest judge on Project Runway and decided to see their collection in person— and I definitely saw things I’d use on the show. (+more)
MR: What at NYFW screamed The Carrie Diaries to you the loudest?
ED: Stacey Bendet has a great overall Carrie look at Alice + Olivia. The whole Rodarte collection feels very 80s hair band girl. I think we could definitely see some of that on Samantha. Dom Streater had clear plastic trench coats that Larissa could definitely rock! (+more)

SCHOOL OF DEGAS
The Carrie Diaries’ Annasophia Robb (as #TEENCARRIEBRADSHAW in lilac Keds and a winter Ballet dress by Georges Chakra ) and Katie Findlay (as Maggie Landers, Carrie’s #toughgirl BFF, in rose Reeboks and a sleeveless Ice Skater dress by Asos) give the boys the night off as they swap their heels for their pumped-up kicks and head off into a starry night. Carrie wore peep toe heels in silver satin with a silver crystal center bow, Maggie’s were silver-glitter-and-bowed pointy-toed kitten heels by Nina. #TotesAdorbs?
