I told Cosmo China “Fashion should be original, both a fun and very enjoyable thing.”

eric-daman-cosmo-china-june-2014 To find your own signature style is to embrace fashion in the best way. Fashion is meant to be fun and enjoyed. Its ok to take risks and be inventive along the way. It’s the key to finding your own true style. Shop for your shape. Respect who you are, how you are built, and work with your best assets. Learn to accept them, maximize them, and minimize the rest.”

I TOLD @COSMOPOLITAN THE ONLY #NYFW COLLECTION I MADE A PRIORITY TO SEE IN PERSON WAS @PROJECTRUNWAY’S!

ericdaman_style_cosmopolitan2carrie_diaries_nyfw_project_runway_cosmopolitanWHEN MY CARRIE DIARIES FASHION RADAR WENT BEZERK!

Eric Daman, the Gossip Girl style maestro, in the throes of shooting the new season of The Carrie Diaries, who also assisted costume designer Patricia Field on Sex and the City, told @Cosmopolitan’s Michelle Ruiz how he’s sexing up Carrie Bradshaw’s style in season two, and why he’s scouring the Fashion Week runways online— just like the rest of us!

nyfw_stacy_bendet__project_runway_cosmopolitanMR: How is Carrie’s style going to evolve in season two?
ED:
Well, Carrie spent the summer in NYC. With any 18-year-old girl, it’s going to have an effect on her fashion. It’s a big part of a girl’s identity. Having met Samantha, we’re going to see Carrie exploring a little more body con, be a bit sexier, less ‘Connecticut’ when she’s in school. (+more)

eric_daman_nyfw_samantha_jones_style_project_runway_cosmopolitanMR: Do you use NYFW to shop for Carrie?
ED:
We’re filming episodes now and it’s fun, but the days are long and high stress. I know I can peruse NYFW online, but this season I was a guest judge on Project Runway and decided to see their collection in person— and I definitely saw things I’d use on the show. (+more)

MR: What at NYFW screamed The Carrie Diaries to you the loudest?
ED:
Stacey Bendet has a great overall Carrie look at Alice + Olivia. The whole Rodarte collection feels very 80s hair band girl. I think we could definitely see some of that on Samantha. Dom Streater had clear plastic trench coats that Larissa could definitely rock! (+more)
